Need to find a pet sitter? You have two good options — Rover and Trusted Housesitters. Here’s how they work.

Rover lists the services of thousands of dog-walkers, groomers and pet-sitters nationwide. To find one that suits you, simply plug in your zip code and the type of animal that needs care. You’ll get a directory of nearby sitters, complete with photos, specialties and the services they offer. Many sitters have hundreds of reviews. But you can also communicate through the site to see if the sitter you’re considering suits your pet. Want to book a Rover?

You can get a $10 discount on a Rover pet-sitter here.

If you want someone to watch your pets in your home, Trusted Housesitters is worth a look. This site allows you to trade free accommodations for light work — feeding dogs and watering plants. Both home owners and house sitters pay an annual fee to register. However, that gives you access to the site for a full year, no matter how many times you want to request a dog/house sitter — or how many times you want to look for accommodations.

Trusted can be a particularly good deal for people who travel a lot and would otherwise spend a small fortune on boarding their pets. Importantly, for those with fragile animals, the site gives pet-sitters access to veterinary advice too.

The site is also a great deal for people who don’t mind feeding a few pets for free accommodations.
