AmazingTalker review
AmazingTalker connects language tutors with students needing assistance. Tutors set their own rates, determine what they teach and the length of their lessons. Tutors teaching English as a second language typically charge between $15 and $28 per hour, the site says.

Notably, too, there are not a lot of requirements to tutor here. You must be 18, able to sign a legal contract and fluent in English. Ideally, you should also have some teaching or tutoring experience. However, you don’t need to have a teaching credential or an ESL certificate. Classes are conducted online, generally on Zoom. You can sign up for AmazingTalker here.
Discounts
However, there are some unattractive aspects to the site, as well. One is that students who buy multiple lessons at once get a discount of up to 15%. And that discount is shouldered by the freelance tutor, not the site.
Graduated fees
Moreover, AmazingTalker takes commissions from tutor earnings and the commissions are steep — particularly for those who are just starting out and not making a lot of money.
Specifically, the site’s fees are graduated, based on how much the tutor earns each month. Those earning the least — less than $100 — pay the highest percentage, 30%. Those earning more pay progressively less. The minimum 15% fee applies once the tutor earns $1,500 or more in a month.
Tutors get paid once monthly through PayPal, Payoneer or bank transfer.
What their tutors say (from Glassdoor)
Great tutoring platform for teachers who want to work online full time. You’re free to decide your schedule and teaching material which I really like. The commission fees the company takes decrease as your income increases (thank God). But the commission fees are high for new teachers so the first few months are tough. Also for some teachers it might be bothersome to prepare their own material.
“The company lets you set your own prices which is really nice once you build your customer base up. It is based around repeat students so it is awesome to build a relationship with students. You can essentially create your lessons and how you want to teach which has nice freedom. But Amazing Talker takes 30% of what you make. It is not the most user friendly site and not answering a lesson request or rejecting a lesson request both affect your ratings.”
