You want to be a star? While breaking into acting is difficult, the explosion of new steaming services has created more opportunity than ever to be a star. And there are a few online platforms that can help you find those first gigs to break through the crowd.
Understand that you ultimately need an agent, not a website. And that’s particularly true if your ambition is to be a star, rather than a character actor or extra. But you need some acting experience to get agents to notice you. So, you’ve got to start somewhere. These two sites can help you get gigs and post professional headshots.

Backstage
Backstage is a respected industry publication that can give you advice about everything from union dues to taking the perfect headshots. The site also offers a subscription plan that will send you dozens of job alerts each week for roughly the same cost as a Spotify membership. Read our full review of Backstage here.
Or you can sign up for Backstage here.
Playbill
Playbill is a leading industry publication that has a great help-wanted section. This job board is free to use and provides all the information you need to apply for the positions listed. Playbill does nothing to market your acting services, but it will send you email alerts, if you subscribe to the site’s help-wanted email service.
Actor’s Access
Actors Access is the one of the few acting/casting-job websites that allow you to put up a profile without paying a monthly fee. Like other sites that offer a free profile, Actors Access will try to convince you to sign up — for $68 annually — for a premium service. But you don’t need the premium service to put up headshots, a resume and basic profile information, such as your age, height and weight.
