If you are fluent in more than one language, you may be able to earn money with freelance translation work. The best translation sites for freelancers allow you to set your own rates and availability, and they send you regular clients. Here are three sites that can help you find freelance translation work.

SmartCat

SmartCat connects freelancers with clients who need both automated and custom translations and editing. Freelancers set their own rates — usually between 3 cents and 10 cents per word. And, they note on their profiles whether they have an expertise in any particular topic, such as biology or accounting. Learn more about SmartCat here.

ProZ

ProZ connects clients and freelance translators, but takes no role in the relationship between the two. Members — both clients and translators — can sign up for free. But if they want to find or post work here, they’ll need to buy a membership. Membership prices are reasonable, though, ranging from $10 to $15 a month. Learn more about ProZ here.

Rev

Rev, a transcription and translation platform, pays from 30 cents to $3 per audio minute for translation and transcription work. While those rates may sound generous at $18 to $180 per audio hour, it will take 3 to 10 minutes to translate and transcribe an audio minute. If you’re a fast typist, who can translate on the fly, you can make good money here. Notably, too, the highest rates go to people who can caption movies (including sounds) and/or translate while they transcribe. Learn more about Rev here.
