SmartCat connects freelancers with clients, who need both automated and custom translations and editing. Freelancers set their own rates — usually between 3 cents and 10 cents per word. And, they note on their profiles whether they have an expertise in any particular topic, such as biology or accounting. Learn more about SmartCat here.

ProZ connects clients and freelance translators, but takes no role in the relationship between the two. Members — both clients and translators — can sign up for free. But if they want to find or post work here, they’ll need to buy a membership. Membership prices are reasonable, though, ranging from $10 to $15 a month. Learn more about ProZ here.

Rev, a transcription and translation platform, pays from 30 cents to $3 per audio minute, it sounds like Rev pays generously– $18 to $180 per audio hour. But, the highest rates go to people with tons of experience working with Rev and to those who can caption movies (including sounds) and/or translate while they transcribe.
