What is Wynter?

Wynter enlists freelance “experts” to help businesses craft effective sales messages. They do that by connecting businesses that have a product to sell (or develop) with the people who would be in a position to buy that product.

The expert provides valuable feedback on what elements could make that product most compelling to potential buyers — and is paid handsomely to do it.

Since business-to-business products can range from copy machines to software, the experts that Wynter enlists range from office managers to CEOs — and nearly everyone in between.

How does it work?

Individuals can sign up to become expert participants in Wynter’s research by filling out a profile. This profile asks a great deal about you, including your entire work history. The site will verify what you tell them by having you connect to your Linkedin profile.

Once approved as a participant, the site will try to match your background and experience with companies seeking feedback from potential customers.

For instance, a company offering a new hiring tool may want to seek the advice of human resource managers at large companies. Those individuals would provide feedback on the pain points they have with their existing software and what product features would make them most likely to buy a new tool.

Invitations

If the site has research that fits your profile, it will send you an invitation to participate in a test, interview or product demo. Tests typically take 5 to 15-minutes. Interviews and product demos take 30 minutes to one hour.

The invitation will say what type of test it is; how to complete it; the deadline; and the pay for the project. Wynter sends these out to a relatively large group, and expects participants to respond within 24 hours.

After that point, the invitation expires. However, each test has limited number of participants. So, even if you reply within the 24-hour time frame, you may get bumped if the test is already full by the time you respond.

If you do participate in a test, Wynter requires participants to keep any non-public information that you learn by doing this gig to yourself.

Pay

Wynter pays between $5 and $600 for each gig, depending on what it is, how long it takes, and the type of experience that’s required to participate.

Participants can choose their payment method. The site pays via PayPal, gift cards, and through charitable donations. Payments are made within 72 hours following the completion of a test.

Recommendations

This is great work when you can get it. But you shouldn’t expect to be called on frequently. Like other armchair consulting firms, Wynter might enlist any given freelancer once or twice a year. However, when you are invited to participate, you’ll earn good money for your time.

Wynter pays extremely well for each survey taken. Surveys are approximately 7-15 minutes each and pay around $10 to $50 for each survey depending on length and category. Easy sign up process takes around two minutes which you link your LinkedIn account. Payout takes around 24 hrs to receive. But does not offer a wide range of survey opportunities. You will receive an email as soon as your demographics match a survey. And that is maybe once every few months. You must be quick after receiving the survey invitation because they fill up extremely fast.
