BeeBizy review:
BeeBizy is a kid’s-event planning platform that aims to connect parents with vendors of everything from cakes and photographers to character actors and balloon artists.
The site’s set up is straightforward and attractive for freelancers. There are no fees to list your services here. But if you book a gig through the platform, you’ll pay a 10% commission. This compares favorably to other platforms that invite performance artists and photographers, such as TheBash and GigSalad. With those sites, you pay dearly and upfront to list your services.
With BeeBizy, you chose your payout method. Venmo was recently added and is popular, says site founder Laila Marshall. Payment is processed immediately following your job.Â
One problem
BeeBizy is only a year old and has yet to draw enough clients to ensure that freelancers will find much work. This is particularly true outside of Los Angeles, where the company is headquartered, and where the bulk of freelancers signed up for the site live and work.
Clicking through the app, you’ll find that most freelancers who have listed services on the site have yet to find their first jobs. With time and marketing, this will presumably change. And, at least here, you don’t pay anything unless you get a job.Â
Recommendations
That said, we see no downside to listing services on this site. And sites that serve well-defined niche markets like this can often find great success. You just shouldn’t expect quick bookings. Marshall says the most popular services on the site are for character actors — people to play, say, Cinderella or Aladin at a birthday party. Typically, freelancers charge upwards of $100 an hour for these gigs, so it’s good work when you get it.Â
If you’re looking for other acting jobs, also check out Extras Management. If you’re looking for work in photography, also check out Snapped4U. And you can list all sorts of services at Fiverr.
