What is Nickelytics?
Nickelytics is a mobile advertising company that pays freelancers to place advertisements on their cars and drive as usual.
How it works
To sign up, you’ve got to download the Nickelytics app through the Apple App Store or Google Play. You’ll also fill in some information about how much and where you drive, as well as the type of car you have and other basic information.
The site will then ask you to keep the app running in the background, so it can track your movement. This is aimed at making sure you meet the requirements and finding a campaign that operates where you drive.
Requirements
However, to qualify for a campaign, you must:
- You must be 18 years of age or older
- Have a clean driving record
- Your vehicle should be no more than 10 years old
- You must drive a minimum of 30 miles/day, 150 miles/week, and 600 miles/month
- Rideshare and delivery drivers are preferred, but not required.
Nickelytics review
If you do get a campaign, the site will present you with a contract that spells out the name of the advertiser, the length and requirements of the campaign, and the pay. You have the right to accept or reject.
If you accept the campaign, the site will arrange an appointment to get your car wrapped. And the site will expect you to keep the Nickelytics app running in the background on your phone so that it can track your location data and report it to the advertiser.
What if you don’t meet the requirements in any given month? Then your pay can be withheld. Carlo Chica, Nickelytics director of operations, says this rarely happens. Less than 1% of driver payments have been withheld for non-performance over the past three years, he says.
Pay
Nickelytics says the site generally pays between $150 – $175 per month for a partial wrap and $250 per month, when you wrap the full car. But, occasionally a campaign will pay up to $500 per month.
Importantly, outside of driving a set number of miles per month in a campaign area — which you would be doing anyway, if you qualify for a campaign — there is no additional work required to earn this pay.
The catch?
There aren’t a lot of campaigns — particularly if you live and work in a relatively rural area.
And Nickelytics has had some technical glitches with its mileage tracking software that has many users complaining that the app simply didn’t track their miles. The site says it’s aware of the software glitch and believe that it’s fixed.
Recommendations
There are three reputable companies that provide car advertising campaigns. And, if you drive a lot, you may want to sign up with them all to boost your chance of getting a gig. Like Nickelytics, the other car advertising companies have more potential drivers than advertisers. So, figure you might get a gig once or twice a year, if you’re lucky.

What Nickelytics users say (from the Apple App Store)
Used the app for about 6 weeks, sometimes it records miles, sometimes they just go away. Definitely driven enough to at least maybe hear from someone for a possible contract or something. Just nothing. Pretty sure they just sell your tracking data. This also really drains your battery.
In the less than a month I put almost 8000 miles on my car. I thought they would use me for advertising due to the large demographic area that was driven in So Cal. Nope. High Desert(Joshua Tree) to the Coachella Valley(Palm Springs) to Orange County (Irvine) to downtown Los Angeles.
From Google Play
So I had a set-to always and I have the app open and I did quite a few miles yesterday and it doesn’t show any of the miles that I did yesterday and if I hit refresh everytime I hit refresh increase but then when I go back over to look at my trip log it shows 0 miles. I was offered a campaign is supposed to start November 6th for 10 months I don’t see how I’m going to get paid properly if the app can’t log my miles properly. I have 2 phones 1 Android/Uber & 1 iPhone/Lyft not working on either
App doesn’t track
I made sure I have all permissions enabled but still the app is not tracking my miles. I drive for a living so I should have accumulated quote a bit of miles but instead, everyday it shows 0 miles driven
Tracking miles isn’t working. I set the location to always on. But I still have to open the app for it to actually track. And then the miles for the month zero out every day so none are accumulating.
